Created in part of my 2020 12-Month Series, comprised of twelve 60cm by 80cm oil paintings, March depicts an early morning sun shining through a pine forest with the last of the winter’s snow hiding in the shade. During this time, COVID-19 first held the world in its grips and lockdown procedures began across the globe. I was lucky to be able to escape my small apartment in Vienna to spend (little did I know) the next 2.5 months in the alps. Having access to these pine forest trails during this turbulent time, and the quest of translating them to canvas, was a godsend for me.
